Sacramento County Coalition for Youth!
The Sacramento County Coalition for Youth (SCCY) first shared the "Talk. They Hear You." campaign in the spring of 2016. Coalition members came together to create public service announcements (PSAs) to share information with parents countywide about talking early and often with their kids about the issue of underage drinking. These PSAs were shared through television and radio outlets, as well as in movie theaters and at local sporting events.
SCCY has developed a youth component this year, called the Sacramento Ambassadors for Change, where the youth ambassadors delivered a presentation for parents to educate them on tactics the alcohol and tobacco industry use to lure youth. As part of the presentation, the young people share how important it is for parents to talk with their kids about these issues, utilizing the resources from "Talk. They Hear You."
What an innovative way to get the whole community involved! Way to go, SCCY!
